Much like fingerprints, nail shapes and sizes are also unique to the individual. You may find similarities between your nails and those of a parent or sibling, but fingernails come in many shapes and sizes. If you�ve ever looked at a friend�s manicure, you may notice that hers does not look identical to yours. Why is that? Well, for starters, your nail bed may be longer or shorter, wider or narrower than your friend�s nail bed.The nail bed is the part of your skin where the actual nail rests. Your nail bed may also differ from your mother�s, your sister�s, your cousin�s, as well as from complete strangers.
